Sebha, being one of the farthest frontier states of the Ottoman Empire, is becoming another signature airport project to be realized by TAV Construction.

Originally the project has been planned to be realized in parallel with the Tripoli International Airport. However due to revisions in the contract type and scope increase, the project is planned to be finalized in late 2011.

The new and contemporary terminal building will have the capacity of 2.5 million passengers per year, when finished. The scope of works also comprises 98.000 m² of apron and 240.000 m² taxiway construction in addition to the works for the 75.000 m² terminal building.
