Macedonia Ministry of Transportation has awarded to TAV Construction the contract to build new terminal and improvement works in Skopje Alexander The Great International Airport.
TAV Construction completed the new, 40,000 m2 terminal building with 6 passenger boarding bridges. In order to increase the capacity of the airport the runway, apron and taxiway areas are improved and increased, in line with the capacity of the terminal building. The runway is extended for more than 500 m whereas the apron areas are increased by 25.000 m². A cargo handling facility capable of 40.000 tons of goods per year and a new administration building of 5.000 m² was also built within the scope of works.
Completely designed and planned by the TAV design team, the new airport has been completed in the relatively short time span of 20 months and is able to handle a capacity of 4 million passengers per year.
